General Discussion / Re: A Mother's fate on holiday

Many years ago,  I heard through a friend of mine,  that another friend of hers had a son who this happened to somewhere down in London, too.

Apparently the lad was drinking with a couple of blokes he met at the bar, and they invited him back to their place for more booze, so he went with them.

He woke up next day, sitting in an empty bath tub,  roughly stitched up with a note telling him not to move or he might bleed to death!   It was discovered one kidney had been removed.

I never did hear how it ended though.

JBR, I am glad you agree they are strange, at least.

I can assure you I do not avidly watch these things at all.   In fact I mute most adverts as I find them both repetitive and annoying,  but some get through the net,  and you can still see the pictures, even without hearing it.
However, I don't think it is so much about who does or doesn't watch,  I think its more about some
Ads should never be  made in the first place.

As for BGT,  I watch bits of it,  not the full programme.   I mute most of that too because I can't stand all the shouting and yelling of the audience all the time,  but the occasional act can be entertaining and even good.   It also makes a change from the thousandth James Bond or 'Rocky'  repeat!

I agree with you about Corrie,  and how much it has changed over the years,  and no doubt will continue to evolve too.

Quote from: Mups on Yesterday at 10:26:35 PMThere was a shocking article in the newspaper a couple of days ago, about a family who went to Turkey for their holiday - hubby, wife, and their two children aged 5 and 8.

Unfortunately the wife became very ill while away, and was taken to a hospital. Her husband followed in a Taxi but was not allowed to see her.
She  was then moved to another hospital, and ended up in intensive care,  but sadly, died.
Her husband found out she had been treated with Penicillin for hours,  in spite of him making it clear she was allergic to that drug.
Her family were then forced to carry her body through the hospital in a body bag!

Next thing, her husband had a visit at his hotel from the Police,  who interrogated him over claims he had poisoned his wife.

When it was all over and the family got the woman's body returned to UK for Post-Mortem examination,  it was discovered that her heart had been removed.

It was said that the Foreign Office is supporting the family but also advised that organs can be taken by coroners  without any consent in Turkey.    It has also been said there is a thriving illegal trade in organs for transplants there.

How frightening ey.  I don't think I will be visiting there any time soon . .
My God!  That is terrible.  We have been to Turkey some years ago, but we were both quite young then.
As far as I'm concerned, at our advancing years, a place to be avoided.  😨

Good heavens, Mups.  You do watch some strange things!

I never watch adverts (including personal and menstrual) these days.  I just scroll past them.

As for Britain's Got Talent, good God!, you you watch some strange things.

May I suggest Classic Coronation Street?  They're still showing some of the episodes from a few years ago, before that series seriously went down the toilet.  If you begin watching the current programmes now, before long you'll see the programme when Tracey kills that yob of a builder.

I don't know about anyone else,  but some things on TV now are all wrong to me.

The adverts about personal things is an example:
1. People wanting to go to the toilet, so they're shown carrying a toilet roll round the office with everyone gawping, then the cameras  go in for a close up of their bums all the way to the loo.     Is that really necessary?

2. Women's menstrual products.  They used to show a woman sitting on the lav with her knickers down  -  is that really necessary?   They used to then pour blue liquids over the pad to show the absorbancy,  now they have changed it to a red liquid.   I think that is horrible.  I think we all know what blood looks like!

And what about Britains Got Talent?  Some acts definitely didn't ought to be allowed on TV.

1. There was an act a couple of weeks back where the bloke was pulling really heavy weights across the stage by a hooks inserted in different parts of his face.  When it got to  putting hooks into his eyes and pulling weights along, it made me feel sick.

2. And what about the acts who shove great long swords right down their throats?  Things up their nose, and in their eyes . . . vile.

Some people, or kids  might actually try and copy these things.  It is so dangerous.
In my opinion,  dangerous acts like these should never be allowed and encouraged on telly,  let alone with the audience applauding and shouting encouragement.

I must be getting old . . .

I see today that Boris has just produced his 9th child,  a little girl.
I think he must be trying to catch up with Elon Musk.

Sign of the times unfortunately, people are not as nice and caring as they used to be. We're falling into our own destination at a fast pace the poor animals are being carried with us.

Yes Muddy and Michael,  it is sad.   Maybe even moreso because it is mostly preventable if only more people cared, instead of careless!
